One player who won’t be picked to face Wimbledon as Pochettino mixes up his selection

Deivid Washington signed for Chelsea last week, but his arrival has come too late for him to feature in tomorrow’s heavily changed side against AFC Wimbledon.

That’s according to Simon Johnson of the Athletic, who has presumably been in contact with someone at the club, as he definitely says that Washington is “not available for selection.”

Washington’s future is pretty uncertain – we’ve got Armando Broja and Mason Burstow currently backing up Nicolas Jackson as first team strikers, and so far it’s seemed likely that Washington would be our final foreign loan, perhaps going to our affiliate club Strasbourg in Ligue 1.

He’s likely too experienced already to play in our Development Squad, so but there’s also simply not enough playing time in our formation to be shared between 4 strikers. One of them will likely be the odd one out, but between Washington, Burstow and Broja, it’s not yet clear who that will be.
