One Chelsea player keeps up brilliant preseason form but another digs his hole deeper

Nicolas Jackson was once again the big winner from Chelsea’s friendly last night. Strength, pressing, linkup play and deadly threat on the break – no matter who was playing in the attack with him, Jackson made them look better.

His preseason has been superb, and before he’s kicked a competitive ball for Chelsea there’s already a strong feeling

Marc Cucurella on the other hand only came on in the second half, and once again contributed very little other than mistakes. His silly pass right to Julian Brandt could have led to a goal directly – instead it just led to the corner from which Dortmund scored. Not a great result.

Cucurella continues to play his way out of favour, with his best ever performance coming in his first game for us, and things going downhill since.

Jackson on the other hand has done more than anyone could have hoped to impress in just a handful of friendly games.
