New midfielder signing means Chelsea loan plans need to be rethought – Serie A side back in

Salernitana’s sporting director Morgan De Sanctis said last week that his club had tried to sign Andrey Santos on loan, but had been shot down by Chelsea who were keen to keep the Brazilian around the first team squad.

Things have changed slightly since then, as the Blues have completed the signing of Lesley Ugochukwu, the 19 year old who looked great for Rennes in France last season. The assumption has been that he will be loaned out and Santos will stay, but it could yet be reversed.

Given Ugochukwu has top 5 league experience, it doesn’t seem out of the question that he now sticks around with the first team and Santos goes on loan. That brings Salernitana back into play, and according to reports from Italy translated by Sportwitness, they may try once again to see if Chelsea are willing to play ball with Santos.

Just when it seemed that Chelsea had made their mind up, this new variable has come into play…

  1. Why? Both will stay and Casadai will go on loan that’s already been reported and an EPL loan most likely.
