Key Chelsea target takes strike up a notch by missing training

Here we go… finally there is some pressure on Brighton from the player’s end in the endless Moises Caicedo saga.

We heard over the weekend that the Ecuador international would be missing the Seagulls’ final preseason friendly with what the club called a calf injury – certainly a suspiciously timed one.

Now, Nizaar Kinsella is reporting that the wantaway midfielder has missed training today in a further effort to force a sale. Brighton are holding out for £100m while Chelsea’s last offer was in the region of £80m. Caicedo is upset that this offer wasn’t accepted, as he believes it’s a fair deal for the club.

In the end, Brighton still holds the cards here because of the new deal Caicedo signed back in the spring. If they really want to keep him, they have him locked down for years to come. But there’s no doubt that this pressure will further incentivise a sale.

Things will start get very spicy if Caicedo isn’t present for his team’s game against Luton Town on the opening day of the season this weekend.

It will do the opposite! It wasn’t so long that Caicedo wrote a public plea on Instagram and all that got him was a banning from the ground. He has the worst advisers in football. He needs to wake up to that fact!
