Deivid Washington completes Chelsea medical – signing could be completed today

Sky Sports are reporting that Deivid Washington has completed his Chelsea medical, meaning a move from Santos to the Blues can now be completed.

The young striker has been a revelation in the Brazilian top flight, and now gets the chance to make an impact in Europe.

The deal will cost the Blues €20m, and the good news is that fans of Santos are annoyed that he’s going so cheap. Unlike with Angelo Gabriel, whom we signed earlier this summer, there seems to be a lot of hype from their fans around Washington.

The 18 year old is likely to head directly to Strasbourg on loan once the deal is done, taking up another of our foreign loan spots, but allowing him the chance to make an instant impact on European football playing for Patrick Vieira’s team.

Good luck out there Deivid – there’s certainly a spot for you in Chelsea’s main squad if you do well.

    1. What about Colwill, James, Chalobah, Gallagher, aside those we’ve sold this transfer window? Pls get your facts straight and don’t just criticize cuz others do. The whole team can’t be filled with loan/academy players if we really want to be a top club.

      1. Agreed.

Having the resources means it’s only smart to invest in lots of young talent. It’s a given that some players won’t reach the world class level demanded in our first team so the business strategy is to hopefully sell those players for higher than what you bought them for. Kurt Zouma is a good example of this. Paid £12m, sold him some years later at nearly £30m when it was decided that he wasn’t quite at the elite level we required.
