Chelsea’s £115m signing names the two Blues who inspired him to become a fan

Since announcing the signing of Moises Caicedo yesterday, Chelsea have made a big show of pointing out that he’s a fan of the club.

It was the first subject raised in their introductory interview with him yesterday, and the club’s media channels got him to talk a little bit about how a kid growing up in Ecuador had become a Blue.

He said it was the inspiration of a couple of legendary Chelsea midfielders which inspired him – Claude Makelele and N’Golo Kante spanned the whole period of Caicedo’s upbringing between them, and we’re sure he learned a lot from each.

If he can be as good for us as either of the pair, the British record transfer fee we paid for him will seem cheap. He seems genuinely excited to be a Chelsea player, and the fact that he turned down Liverpool to make it happen will endear him to fans no matter what else happens in the years to come.
