Chelsea agree six year contract with future club and England superstar

Chelsea have agreed a new six year deal with academy defender Levi Colwill, ending one of the most tense and worrying situations at the club this summer.

After a strong season on loan at Huddersfield in 2021, Colwill went to Brighton last year, and did so well that they wanted to keep him – and seemed to want to stay. It has been a real battle to convince him that he’s best served staying at Stamford Bridge, but it looks like he’s finally been convinced.

David Ornstein reports tonight that the 20 year old will finally sign a new deal which keeps him at the club until at least 2029, if all goes well. The sigh of relief from the entire Chelsea fanbase is tangible.

Of course the new contract is not actually signed and sealed yet – but Ornstein isn’t leaving any room for misunderstanding. This one is getting done.

The news yesterday that Axel Disasi would sign from Monaco was worrying in that it seemed to push Colwill deeper down the depth chart – but in fact it seems he’s been convinced of his importance to the future of the club regardless.
