Top German insists Bayern believe that £100m midfielder “already has an agreement with Chelsea”

Bayern Munich were interested in Moises Caicedo, but will not make an official bid after concluding that the Brighton midfielder “already has an agreement with Chelsea.”

That’s according to Christian Falk of Sport Bild, who is a very reliable source when it comes to Bayern. It’s great news for Chelsea fans who are getting antsy about the way we’re selling off the whole midfield, without seeming to make much progress on bringing anyone in who might improve upon last season’s disaster.

Caicedo does it all, and looks like a perfect complement for Enzo Fernandez. For a team as big as Bayern to be scared off by our interest, things must be pretty advanced in our talks with Brighton, who are reportedly holding out for as much as £100m for their 21 year old.

Caicedo has been our clear first choice target ever since Manuel Ugarte went to PSG, but there has been some worry about the lack of official bids for the midfielder being reported. What this tells us is that Chelsea already have a deal agreed with the player, and are likely now establishing what Brighton will want before making a bid.

It’s not over yet, but this is a great sign that behind the scenes, things are advancing further towards this deal happening than we may have suspected. Preseason has only just begun, so if we can get this transfer concluded in the next few days, we can feel confident that the Ecuador international will have plenty of time to prepare ahead of next season.
