Former PL star suggests Chelsea should cash in on 24-year-old ‘if it’s a really big fee’

Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah has been recently linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge.

As per Football Insider, Italian outfit Inter Milan and hoping to sign the player this summer, but he is keen on staying at the London club.

The 24-year-old might struggle for regular game time at Chelsea next season and it remains to be seen how the situation develops.

Chalobah is a versatile defender who can operate as a right-back as well as a central defender.

Chelsea are already lacking in depth in the central defensive department and they should look to hold on to him beyond this summer.

The defender has a contract with them until the summer of 2028 and he made 34 appearances across all competitions for Chelsea last season.

He could be a useful player for Mauricio Pochettino and the Blues should look to hold on to him, especially after the injury to Wesley Fofana.

The talented young Frenchman picked up a ligament injury and he is set to be sidelined for several weeks.

Chelsea will be desperate to bounce back strongly and get back into the Champions League after a disappointing campaign and they cannot afford to weaken their squad any further.

If they decide to sell Chalobah they should look to bring in adequate replacements first.

Former Premier League striker Gabriel Agbonlahor has now suggested that Chelsea should look to keep him at the club for another season and only a huge offer might be worth considering.

He said: “I do like Chalobah, he’s had some really good games – I don’t think Chelsea should be looking to move him on. There was talk of Chalobah leaving, but I think they should only consider it if it’s a really big fee.”

It seems unlikely that any club would look to present a lucrative proposal to sign the 24-year-old in the remaining weeks of the transfer window and Chalobah continuing at Stamford Bridge would be ideal for all parties.
