Chelsea to focus on negotiations for 19-goal target over the next few days

Chelsea completed the signing of Lesley Ugochukwu yesterday and the Blues are now looking to reinforce their attacking options.

According to a report from Fabrizio Romano, the Blues will now focus on the signing of Elye Wahi from Montpellier.

Chelsea are set to continue talks with the French club over the next few days and they will look to agree on a fee with his club. The striker will then go out on loan to Strasbourg.

Apparently, two other clubs are hoping to sign the 20-year-old striker this summer, and it will be interesting to see if Chelsea can win the race for his services.

Wahi had an impressive campaign for the Ligue 1 side last season, scoring 19 goals across all competitions.

The 20-year-old striker is highly rated around Europe and he has the potential to develop into a quality goalscorer. Regular football at Strasbourg will help his development and he could improve further.

Chelsea need to bring in attacking reinforcements as well, but they might not be able to give him a regular game time next season. It makes sense for them to loan him out for a season so that he can continue his development with regular first-team action.

The player could then return to Chelsea as an improved striker and establish himself as a key player under Mauricio Pochettino.

The Blues certainly have the financial means to get the deal done and it will be interesting to see how the situation develops over the next few days.
