Chelsea held lengthy discussions with Euro giants for transfer of 14-goal star on Thursday

Chelsea striker Romelu Lukaku continues to be linked with a move away from the club this summer.

The Belgian international was initially expected to join Inter Milan on a permanent transfer but it seems that Juventus could now sign him before the window closes.

According to journalist Alfredo Pedulla, the Belgian wants to join Juventus this summer and he has already turned down offers from Saudi Arabia. Pedulla has revealed that Chelsea held lengthy discussions with Juventus regarding the Belgian striker on Thursday and it remains to be seen whether the Italian outfit are prepared to pay the asking price for him.

He said (h/t SportItalia): “Today [Thursday], there was a very long direct contact between Chelsea and Juventus. Lukaku wants and waits for the Bianconeri, and continues to reject any other offer. Al-Hilal made him a new offer but he again said no. Chelsea asked Juventus to come out [with an offer].”

Lukaku had a mixed campaign on loan at Inter Milan last year and he scored 14 goals across all competitions.

He helped the Italian giants reach the final of the UEFA Champions League and he will look to guide Juventus back to the top of Italian football if he joins them.

There is no doubt that the Belgian is a world-class player on his day and he could be a quality signing for Juventus. Dusan Vlahovic has been an underwhelming addition for the Italian club and they could look to sell the Serbian this summer. Lukaku could be a quality alternative.

The Belgian international does not have a future at Stamford Bridge and Chelsea will want to get rid of him permanently. It remains to be seen whether the two clubs can come to an agreement soon.
