£100m for Real Madrid star seems cheap after Brighton battle

Football.London are among the sources today reporting on Chelsea’s apparent interest in Real Madrid midfielder Federico Valverde.

With Brighton asking £100m for Moises Caicedo, suddenly a similar fee for a much more proven player in Valverde doesn’t seem outrageous at all.

We can’t really see Madrid being keen to let such an important player go, but there is a chance that with Jude Bellingham signed this summer and Aurelien Tchouameni and Edouardo Camavinga looking to play more and more, along with the old stalwarts Luka Modric and Toni Kroos, that Uruguay international is considered a saleable asset.

And there’s another factor – what if Madrid decide they want to raise a quick £100m or so in order to secure Kylian Mbappe this summer, rather than waiting for next summer? In that case, maybe there is a chance after all?

Valverde probably wouldn’t be keen to leave Madrid – but if they decide it’s the right move for them, he may not have much of a choice.

  1. Tchouameni can be better off than caciedo that’s the Best we can go for anything short than this two caciedo and Tchouameni! Going for valverde not a good signing in such defensive position! And Tchouameni will be cheaper to caciedo and we need to sell chalobh Now and use that fund’s and get a young player to replace fofana

  2. Valverde is a proven mid fielder than caicedo, I in particular does not want Chelsea in paying that much on Caicedo cos we are been fooled in paying too much just like the case of Cucurella. We should open our eyes and not let other teams extort us all the time. Blue I remain.

  3. Let Arsenal sell Gabriel Jesus and use 130m pounds in signing Mbappe for just two years contract.

  4. We sold Billy Gilmour and Tariq Larmptey to them just for peanut, loaned Colwin to them.but what did they do, they sold flopped Cucurella to use on a higher price.
