Inter want Chelsea defender for £25m as Blues prepare to sell off more home grown talent

Inter Milan are pushing “hard” to sign Chelsea defender Trevoh Chalobah for £25m according to a report in the Evening Standard.

As has been well established by now, the club are looking to sell up a lot of the first team squad to make up for the excesses of last summer and to create room to make further moves this summer. Chalobah and the other home grown players are most at risk as their sale generates the most headroom, accounting-wise.

It seems Chalobah could be next up. There are a lot of players in the queue at centre back now, with Thiago Silva signed up for another year, Kalidou Kouliably just a year into his time here, Levi Colwill returning from loan plus Benoit Badiashile and Wesley Fofana looking like they could be the first choice two.

The report says that the Italian club are “in communication with Chalobah’s camp on a daily basis.” The defender will be keen to join because he is “desperate to be playing football” as he looks to earn a place in England’s Euro 2024 squad.

Former Cobham starts like Ola Aina, Tammy Abraham and Fikayo Tomori have thrived since moving to Serie A, and it looks like Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Chalobah could join them this summer on opposite sides of the city.

Once again, we would be gutted to see such a talented home grown player allowed to leave just to raise money to pay for the useless overpriced mercenaries we now have filling up the squad.
