Chelsea’s next transfer move decided with move “this week” for Premier League star expected

Chelsea are going to make a new move for Romeo Lavia “this week” according to a piece on Football Insider today. If we get things moving with a bid in the next few days, we could see fairly rapid progress.

The Blues have been linked with the Southampton man since August, and look set to made good on that interest this summer. The piece cites a price of £40m, now that the Saints have been relegated, that seems more than doable for Chelsea.

While we had previously expected it to be one of Lavia or Moises Caicedo coming in, we’re increasingly convinced we will see two players arrive. The fact that N’Golo Kante looks set to join Denis Zakaria, Jorginho, Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Mateo Kovacic and Mason Mount in a 6 month long gutting of the midfield makes two arrivals seem inevitable now – depending on our plans for Cesare Casadei and Andrey Santos, of course.

If Lavia can be bought for as little as the £40m mentioned above and Brighton are willing to play ball a little with Caicedo, we could well see the pair of exceptional Premier League operators added to our midfield sooner rather than later.

That will go a long way to adding fresh young legs and intensity to an increasingly slow and fragile unit that has really been a weak point for some time now.

We look forward to further updates.
