Chelsea player continues his rise to the top with important international milestone

Wesley Fofana has finally made his France debut.

The central defender has had to wait more than 18 months for his debut because of constant injury setbacks. He play alongside Liverpool’s Ibrahima Konate at the back for Les Bleus as they take on Gibraltar. That should be a pretty easy afternoon for him then…

Given the quite incredible depth that the French side have – probably the deepest group of players in world football of any type – it’s a superb sign for Chelsea to have one of the two centre backs they consider their best. Long may it continue.

Let’s hope that these two games allow Fofana to pick up some more much needed action after a couple of years where he’s played far less than he would have liked. He’s got a lot of ground to make up, and has a lot of his huge transfer fee to start paying back.
