Chelsea have failed to sell one midfielder to Milan – but could yet shift another after meetings resume

A couple of weeks ago it looked like Chelsea were serenely moving towards their important first sale of the summer.

Ruben Lotus-Cheek had waved goodbye to his friends and fans at Stamford Bridge as he taken off in our last game of the season, and rumours both in Italy and in the UK were that AC Milan were closing in and about to sign him up.

But the sacking of AC Milan directors of football Ricky Massara and Paolo Maldini changed all that, and the deal was blown up.

Now according to Sempre Milan we are closing in on a deal once again – but it’s a different player in their spotlight. Giorgio Furlani and Geoffrey Moncada, who have replaced Massara and Maldini – are making great progress, but it’s on the signing of Carney Chukwuemeka on loan.

That’s another interesting prospect for Chelsea, but it brings us back to square one in terms of Loftus-Cheek, a player we seem keen to sell for the purposes of raising money. Perhaps they will end up wanting him too.

Christian Pulisic is also being discussed in these talks, with the American winger also an asset we’re keen to shift.
