“All kinds of problems” – Player pleased his move to Chelsea broke down

Chelsea’s season has been nothing short of absolutely terrible, finishing 12th in the Premier League.

It’s also marked the new owners first year in charge at the club and things have gone pretty poorly for them so far.

They need big improvements, and after going through four managers already this season, a new one is set to start in July and they will be hoping that Mauricio Pochettino is the guy to pull them through this rut. It’s a very tough and big task, and world football seems to be laughing at Chelsea’s problems and taking them on board.

Ajax midfielder Edson Alvarez wanted to move to Chelsea last summer and was close to doing so at one point, but now he is sounding rather pleased that he didn’t make the move, believing that everything happens for a reason.

In words picked up by Sport Witness, Alvarez said: “My supervisors let me know when a club is concrete, then I start thinking about it myself.

“I also read and hear from the media about the interest, and of course I’m not going to lie that it’s always nice when you’re associated with big clubs. But Ajax is also a big club for me, so I will always treat everything and everyone here in Amsterdam with respect.

“In the beginning, because it felt like a mental challenge. Nevertheless, I did switch back afterwards, because Ajax is also a big club. I also believe that everything in life happens for a reason.

“If you see Chelsea’s season now, for example, also with all kinds of problems, then maybe it should have been like this.”
