£30m offer instantly rejected by Chelsea as they look to the future

Chelsea have spent the last day accepting offers for their players, with Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic now reportedly speaking with clubs about personal terms, but they have also rejected an offer this morning.

Sky Sports are reporting that Brighton have had a £30m offer for Levi Colwill flatly rejected this morning. Chelsea are determined to keep him and Mauricio Pochettino sees him as a key part of his plans for the future.

Given how many of our academy talents will be leaving this summer, it’s nice to know that at least this one isn’t going anywhere.

You would have to offer a whole lot more than £30m to get the club to even consider selling one of the top young central defenders in the world. Brighton probably know this, they just want to make it clear to their fans that they did what they could to try and get the young defender back after a season impressing on loan on the South Coast.

What isn’t certain is how Colwill feels about all this. He’s made some strange hints about wanting to stay with the Seagulls, who qualified for Europe with him playing an important role.

He will now have to come back and play with a Chelsea team who spent the equivalent period in total freefall. Let’s hope the arrival of Pochettino can make staying put a more tempting situation for Colwill and players like him.
