When Mauricio Pochettino official announcement is expected

Chelsea got rid of Graham Potter shortly after the March international break, and it’s now very nearly June. That’s a lot of time to find a replacement, and while we’ve known for a while that Mauricio Pochettino is the chosen man, we’ve yet to hear that from the club themselves.

Matt Law has today reported in the Daily Telegraph that the Argentine has signed his deal, and adds that the announcement is expected “in the next 48 hours.” It looks to be a 3 year arrangement.

Given we play our last home game of the season today it seems possible it’s announced live there, but nothing has been confirmed on that front. Perhaps it will be used as a way of mitigating an otherwise pretty negative situation at Stamford Bridge which could see the players trudging round the pitch doing a “lap of appreciation” for fans who have not appreciated the squad’s efforts this season one bit.

It’s still not clear exactly which staff members he will bring with him, but his trusted assistant Jesus Perez is expected to join, as is his fitness coach son Sebastiano Pochettino. There are likely to be a couple of others along with them – presumably all will become clear when the announcement is made.

Some members of Graham Potter’s staff may yet stay on, as they were only appointed (at great expense) back in September.

We just want it to happen now – there’s a lot of work to be done this summer.
