Levi Colwill has been the talk of the Premier League for some time now, and a lot of fans around the division are waking up to what some Chelsea youth followers have been screaming for years – this guy is the real deal, and the league’s best young defender.
After a brilliant season at Brighton he’s coming back to Chelsea, and there are fears that the defender will be tempted to let the last two years of his deal wind down if he’s not in the Blues’ immediate plans.
Ben Jacobs has given us a big relief today by reporting that the defender is in our plans, and won’t be sold or loaned out in the season to come.
Levi Colwill will definitely return to Chelsea this summer. No plans from club to sell or loan him. Viewed as a big part of #CFC's plans & future. Colwill would need to force an exit to leave. No indication that's his intention providing he's given game time, which is the plan.🔵 pic.twitter.com/9oLkMgSCON

In another important update today, Fraser Fletcher is reporting that Chelsea will open new contract talks with him this summer. But a man in demand as Colwill is isn’t going to sign anything until he knows he’s going to be playing every week.
As previously reported: Chelsea will open contract talks with defender Levi Colwill in the summer.
Chelsea hope to keep Colwill at the club as they value him highly and do not want to sell. There are multiple PL clubs interested. #CFC pic.twitter.com/2pZY4gEuA8

It may end up being a tense wait – if Levi wants to ensure he gets first team football he will likely want to delay and see what happens next season. We could end up with just 18 months left on his current deal before he’s convinced and ready to sign a new one.
Let’s just hope that the new manager is able to convince him of his importance from the moment he walks in the door.
