Liverpool look at Crystal Palace winger as alternative to Chelsea man

Eberechi Eze is being linked with Liverpool as a potential alternative to Mason Mount, should the midfielder make a last minute chance and sign a new deal with Chelsea rather than striking out on his own.

The Daily Express today suggest that the Crystal Palace winger is a potential backup target for the Reds, who have made it clear that snapping up a cut price Mount is their dream scenario.

Manchester United and Arsenal are also in the hunt for Mount, whom Chelsea still hope to make a last minute breakthrough with in contract talks. All of this uncertainty has made it

Eze is more of a winger than Mount, although we’ve seen the versatile England international used in all manner of midfield positions over the years, including as a sort of inside forward in Thomas Tuchel’s formation.

With 10 Premier League goals this season, Eze looks to have made real progress, and while he doesn’t yet have Mount’s pedigree in terms of international caps and Champions League experience, the 24 year old looks ready to step up to a new level if and when a top side bites the bullet and swoops in for him.

If Chelsea do lose Mount to Liverpool or one of their other rivals, perhaps the Blues will be among the teams adding Eze to their shortlist at some point down the line.
