Graham Potter could plunder Chelsea ranks if he’s handed new Premier League role

It’s been a while since Graham Potter was spoken about to any great degree, and the club’s former manager might well be about to end his short sabbatical and set about restoring his reputation.

There’s little point raking over the multitude of issues which saw Potter dispensed with, but we can well do without him coming back to haunt us.

What’s more, if reports in Foot Mercato, cited by TeamTalk are accurate, he’ll be pitching up just down the road at Selhurst Park.

It’s not confirmed that Roy Hodgson will be making way at Crystal Palace as yet, though the fact that the outlet note that Potter is ‘in talks’ suggests that a potential hire could be imminent.

Furthermore, it would appear that, if the appointment is confirmed, Potter will plunder Chelsea for one of his first signings.

The Daily Mail say that 18-year-old Lewis Hall is being monitored by the south London outfit as he may find his opportunities at the Bridge limited under Mauricio Pochettino.

If the new manager wants to build his side around a core of young players, then Hall has to be considered as a long-term prospect in Pochettino’s project, albeit the potential opportunity of immediate and regular first-team football would clearly have appeal.

Much would appear to depend on whether Potter is unveiled in south London at some point soon.

Time is of the essence for all clubs in terms of transfers, given that the window opens in a fortnight and it’s unlikely that any club will still want to be rooting around for scraps in later August.
