Chelsea’s three worst players of the season according to the stats

WhoScored’s ratings system gives each player in a game a rating from one to ten according to certain statistical actions performed on the pitch.

Over the course of a season, you can build up a picture of who is playing well and who is playing badly. Reece James had an injury hit season but was still our statistical player of the year as the only Blue to crack an overage rating of above 7 (and even then, it was only just).

But who are our bottom 3 performers? There are a few unfortunately who only got a game or two, so we will limit it to those with 5 starts or more.

Bottom of the list is poor old Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang. He had 5 starts in the Premier League and scored 1 goal, with 0 assists. His hold up play was poor, he was invisible in big games and didn’t press with any conviction. He was a disaster signing of epic proportions.

In second place is Christian Pulisic. He had 8 starts, and got one goal and one assist. He’s clearly known he’s leaving the club at the end of the season for some time, and hasn’t looked motivated at all. He could have finished his time at the club with the winning goal with the last touch of the game on Sunday – but he hit it right at the keeper.

In third place we have January arrival Mykhailo Mudryk, who made 7 starts. He shone on his debut as a sub against Liverpool and then… looked pretty rubbish ever since. He missed a glorious chance on Sunday as well.

  1. Can’t believe I got suckered into “clicking” this [ugh!].

A total load of garbage from SuperFrank yet again. So Pulisic didn’t look motivated when he crashed into De Gea attempting to get on the end of a ball he had almost no chance of scoring but was willing to sacrifice his body for nonetheless? Even as Pulisic gave no ground in the aftermath (when De Gea and Co looked like they wanted to take our player’s head off for his impudence), SuperFrank has the gall to accuse him of quitting on the team. What a prejudiced load of rubbish. SHAME ON YOU! I wonder sometimes whether you even watch the game, lol!

I’m not sure how you call yourself a Chelsea supporter when you harbor such incredible bias against, and regularly malign (unjustifiably), our players, SuperFrank. It’s really beyond the pale. And to suggest in the title to your piece that you did some sort of statistical deep dive to come up with this nonsense (when next to no analysis is evident!) is totally misleading. Unfortunately, this is nothing new, as the majority of your posts seem to be little more than clickbait. Do us a favor and go on holiday already.
