Chelsea deny agent comments after new manager search

Chelsea reportedly deny some comments made by an agent this week after their manager search nears an end.

As we know, Mauricio Pochettino is the man who will take the reigns now, with an official announcement expected in the coming hours or days.

Sources: Chelsea have big plans for current forward who they rate highly!

The former Spurs boss was not the only man considered though, and Julian Nagelsmann’s agent has actually claimed that his client was the first choice option, but they turned it down.

He says that Chelsea were quick to call them after Nagelsmann was sacked as Bayern Munich boss, which is probably not incorrect at all. Chelsea looked and spoke to a few options, with multiple reports confirming this at the time.

But according to The Athletic, it is believed that Chelsea do not accept agent Volker Struth’s version of events and that, while the club was interested in Nagelsmann, it is understood that he was not their first-choice target.

So what was said?

Struth said to Bild podcast Phrasenmaher: “I can confirm that Chelsea were quick to call (after Nagelsmann’s dismissal at Bayern Munich). There were some phone conversations.

“It was the right decision (by Nagelsmann) not to go there. It’s a club in troubled waters at the moment. And their transfer policy, spending a few hundred million euros, has raised expectations that need to be met. There were also some other issues.

“He was their number one (choice), that was our information. I believe it would have happened if he had wanted it.”
