German football insider Christian Falk is today reporting that Bayern defender Benjamin Pavard had a meeting with his team’s sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic to discuss a new contract.
Pavard has just one year left to run, and both Chelsea and Barcelona are listed as interested parties should Bayern be forced to sell this summer.
Benjamin Pavard had yesterday a Talk with Hasan Salihamidzic, Head of Sport @FCBayern. Bayern would like to extend his contract (running our 2024). @FCBarcelona_es and @ChelseaFC are also interested. The decision about his Future is still open

It all seems very unlikely. Pavard can play at right back or centre back, but Chelsea are well stocked in both areas for the season to come.
We can see them potentially picking up a young prospect somewhere down the line to be a backup, but buying a World Cup winner from Bayern Munich doesn’t come cheap, and you wouldn’t pay that much money to have him sitting on the bench behind Reece James and Malo Gusto.
This feels like someone is throwing our name in to help Pavard get a better deal on his new contract.
