Arsenal’s revolution since Lukaku beat them should give Chelsea fans hope

Chelsea have lost 3 games in a row against Arsenal (if you include the fateful friendly last summer), with their last win coming at the start of last season.

That game was the last moment where it really felt like Chelsea were on top of the world and Arsenal far behind. Since then it’s been a rapid decline for us, and a steady improvement for them. In that game Romelu Lukaku scored and looked like he was going to be a hit, and the rest of the team, having won the Champions League not long before, looked ready to challenge for the title.

Since then Arsenal have revolutionised their team. From the starting XI that day, Bernd Leno, Rob Holding, Cedric Soares, Pablo Mari, Kieran Tierney, Albert Lokonga, Emile Smith Rowe and Nicolas Pepe have all either left or been reduced to backups.

It’s a reminder to Chelsea that things can turn around very quickly in football. They should take heart from that.
