Ornstein: ‘Many changes’ are coming at Chelsea this summer

The Athletic’s David Ornstein has said to expect many changes at Chelsea this summer and beyond, as the squad rebuilding is set to continue.

Having already spent around £600m in the last two transfer windows, the club owners will now concentrate on thinning the squad out and getting some money back in via many players sales.

Sources: Chelsea prepare fresh new terms for Mason Mount!

Ornstein was speaking to Sky Sports after Chelsea lost 2-0 to Real Madrid in the Champions League quarter finals last night.

Despite the tough opposition, it was a lacklustre performance from Chelsea and they lacked intensity and belief, especially compared to Madrid’s players, who were just much hungrier than Chelsea’s.

But Ornstein believes many of these players are expected to leave this summer and mentions Pierre Emerick Aubameyang, Hakim Ziyech, Mason Mount, Conor Gallagher, Ruben Loftus-Cheek as players who could all leave whilst speculation will happen around Kepa Arrizabalaga and Edouard Mendy.

Chelsea will also try to avoid allowing any Chelsea player to go under two years on their contract.
