Welsey Fofana set for first senior France callup

It’s a sign of the ridiculous depth that France have as an international team that Wesley Fofana still doesn’t have a cap.

If he was English he might have 20 by now, and indeed if he hadn’t had a wear wiped out through injury he probably would have have at least one for France already.

But the broken leg that cost him last season means that it’s only now that sources like Get French Football News are reporting that the 22 year

Fofana has been excellent for Chelsea since returning to first team action in the last few weeks, and the timing is perfect for a bow with Didier Deschamps’ team as they take on the Netherlands and then Ireland in their first Euro 2024 qualifier.

His path to a first actual cap will likely be as tricky as his path to the squad however, given the players around him.

All we ask is they send him back fit.
