Thomas Tuchel says he wants Chelsea coach to join him at Bayern

Thomas Tuchel is taking his first press conference as Bayern Munich manager, and already Chelsea are being tangled into the story.

Tuchel has brought both his old Chelsea assistants to join him on the bench at Bayern, but he’s not done yet. He also wants Anthony Barry, who worked with him at Stamford Bridge, as he said openly in his presser:

“My coaching staff wasn’t prepared either, so a big thank you to their families for their flexibility. Arno Michels and Zsolt Löw, who have been working with me for over ten years, will be there. We’re hoping to add Anthony Barry, who is currently at Chelsea,” former Blues boss Tuchel explained.

Barry predated Tuchel at Chelsea, having joined the club for Frank Lampard’s second season. Clearly he impressed the German manager  – but it remains to be seen whether the highly rated coach is persuaded to make the move to the Bundesliga.

But the fact that Tuchel is willing to speak so openly about a coach working for his old employers makes us feel it’s pretty likely that something happens now.
