Sources confirm Chelsea interested in Nagelsmann – but Potter looks set to stay

Tonight’s edition of the Daily Mail is confirming what we all suspected: there are people at Chelsea who are big fans of the newly unemployed Julian Nagelsmann, and he would be high up on any new coach shortlist were Graham Potter to be fired.

The wunderkind has been given the boot at Bayern Munich, replaced by Chelsea’s last manager Thomas Tuchel, but his reputation as one of the top young coaches in the world doesn’t seem to have been damaged.

Chelsea’s new technical director Christopher Vivell worked in Germany for a long time, and his path crossed with Nagelsmann at RB Leipzig, so they will know each other well.

But with Potter finally finding some form in recent weeks, it’s hard to see Chelsea getting rid of him now things seem to have turned a corner, at least not in the short term, meaning Vivell will be off the market.
