Romeo Lavia dismisses talk of return to Man City

Man City are a talent factory much like Chelsea, buying and selling the best young players around.

Also like Chelsea they tend to let a few slip through the net, and they certainly did that when they sold Romeo Lavia to Southampton. The Citizens were smart enough to include a buy-back clause however, and given the midfielder’s brilliant form this season, he was recently asked about a potential move back north.

The 19 year old rather shrugged it off, saying it was “too early to consider it” in quotes picked up by Hampshire Live. That does open the door for a long rumoured move to Chelsea this summer, but a lot will depend on City’s clause.

Having let Lavia go, Man City invested heavily last summer when they bought Kalvin Phillips from Leeds United. That move has turned into a bit of a disaster however, and it remains to be seen whether Pep Guardiola and co. give the England international another season to prove himself.
