Reece James out of England squad – with fresh injury feared

Reece James is out and the England squad and heading back to Chelsea, according to insider “C345 Sam” on Twitter.

It doesn’t sound like the most promising source, but this account correctly breaks team news week after week, and is clearly well connected somehow.

Frustratingly, he doesn’t make clear why James is “out” of the squad. We fear it’s due to injury, but there’s also a possibility that it’s been made clear to James he won’t play in England’s second game of the international break, and he’s therefore been allowed to return home to rest.

The right back appeared as a second half sub in England’s game against Italy in Naples on Thursday and didn’t seem to pick up any issues. We were expecting him to play a similar role off the bench – or perhaps even start – when the Three Lions face Ukraine tomorrow.

We’re sure this initial news will be immediately followed up by journalists who will dig up more about what’s going on.
