Paul Merson rows back on “dangerous” Chelsea winger

Paul Merson has previously been very critical of Chelsea signing Mykhailo Mudryk, but the former Arsenal star watched the Blues’ game against Leicester for Sky Sports this weekend and was impressed by what he saw from the young winger.

Having previously speculated that Mudyk was “not a Graham Potter signing” after the coach left the £88m man on the bench even as Chelsea needed to score in recent weeks, against the Foxes Merse saw a performance that was much more in line with what fans were expecting.

In quotes picked up by Football.London he was hardly glowing, but he clearly saw a few nice moments:

“I thought Mudryk did alright. He looked dangerous, He played through the middle for a lot of the game. Great movement. He scored, it was disallowed; he went too early and should have gone a little bit later with his pace.”

There’s certainly a lot more to come, but for now we’re happy to see “Micha” get a start and look like he’s settling in a bit better.
