“Not in good condition” – Inter suits still trying to lower striker’s asking price

The more you hear from Inter Milan, the less it seems they’re likely to sign Romelu Lukaku permanently after his loan deal expires this summer.

CEO Beppe Marotta has had a few negative quotes in the press already, and today he doubled down by painting a pretty clear path to the exit.

“He will return to Chelsea – then we will see. Lukaku is not in good condition yet, we are still waiting to see the real Romelu as we saw in the past,” Marotta said in quotes Tweeted out by Fabrizio Romano on his Twitter tonight.

Of course, Inter’s top dogs are bound to talk like this. It’s in their interest to play down his performances to depress his price, even if they do actually intend to buy him.

But we’ve got to be realistic – it’s not all just hot air. Clearly Lukaku is struggling, otherwise he would have been picked in the team for tonight’s Champions League second leg against Porto.

Still, Inter made it through, and Lukaku will get more chances to impress Marotta and co in the Quarter Finals.
