When Noni Madueke joined Chelsea, he said he was delighted to have come to a big team – but also said he wasn’t going to pretend he had been a Chelsea fan all his life.
We respect his honesty.
But it turns out that Chelsea was in fact in his blood – in a manner of speaking.
In the first part of his “my journey” interview with the official Chelsea site, Madueke says his brother and sister are both Chelsea fans – and indeed his sister’s middle name is Chelsea.
“It’s a Chelsea house…. there’s three Chelsea fans now because of me as well!”
The interview is really interesting, and tells the story of his early years growing up in London playing for Crystal Palace and then Tottenham at youth level.
Madueke seems a really good guy and a talented player, and while he’s not getting many minutes at the moment, we can certainly see the potential for a dangerous Premier League attacker in there.
