Mason Mount linked with inevitable Bayern Munich move after Thomas Tuchel appointment

Mason Mount has today been linked by an “exclusive” in the Times with a move to Bayern Munich.

That’s been inevitable since Thomas Tuchel took over the German club at the weekend – in fact we’re just surprised it’s taken so long.

Like all good transfer rumours it takes two different news stories and blends them together – in this case Tuchel’s arrival at Bayern and Mount’s contract standoff, with the pair’s shared success at Chelsea the linking factor which makes it all feel grounded.

If Mount were to leave Chelsea in the summer – and that looks increasingly likely as contract talks seem to have ground to a halt entirely – Bayern would obviously be a fantastic option for him. It means he avoids the awkwardness of playing for Chelsea’s Premier League rivals, and all but guarantees him trophies.

Tuchel knows him and likes him and will be looking to put his own stamp on his inherited squad. Unless Mount signs a new deal, we can see this thread running until the summer.
