Kai Havertz misses Germany game with new problem

After playing (and missing a penalty) in Germany’s win over Peru on Saturday, Chelsea attacker Kai Havertz has been ruled out of tomorrow night’s game for his country against Peru with an illness.

It’s only described as a “cold” by the Associated Press, which sounds very minor. On the other hand Havertz wouldn’t miss a chance to play for his country unless it was necessary, and there are now only a few days until we face Aston Villa on Saturday evening.

If Havertz is out, it brings a fantastic chance for Mykhailo Mudryk and Noni Madueke to show what they can do with a return to the team. They both are a very different profile to Havertz, and play in a very different style. He has finally found goalscoring form for his club playing in an inside forward role behind Raheem Sterling up top, so his absence may cause a reshuffle.
