Frank Leboeuf names two players who will be Chelsea’s “strength for many years”

We might have a break from domestic football right now, but many Chelsea players are still in action this week.

We have a heavy involvement across senior international teams and youth teams, and there has been some solid performances.

Blues defender Wesley Fofana had his first call up to the French national side for these sets of internationals, after a handful of very good games at the back for Chelsea since returning from his recent injury.

He has been playing alongside Benoit Badiashile, who is with the France U21s this break. But former French international defender Frank Leboeuf, who also played for Chelsea, these two defenders will be Chelsea’s strength for many years.

The former Blues captain was writing in his latest extensive and exclusive Chelsea column for Si & Dan Talk Chelsea last week and honed in on the two French gems to offer praise to.

Leboeuf said: “Wesley Fofana looked good for me when he was at Leicester, and I said he’s one of the most impressive young players that I have sen in the Premier League. Then he signed for Chelsea and I was the first to be pleased about that.

“When he signed for Chelsea he needed to adapt to the club, to the level, to the pressure that he had. Now he is showing to the world that he is very important; he is working hard, he’s very mature for his age, and I think along with Benoit Badiashile we have a great future in central defence – those players are going to be our strength for many years.

“I’m so happy that Fofana is back to his best and has also joined the national team. It’s natural you see that he is going to be a top top player. He was a very good signing from Chelsea and I applauded it when I saw it. I’m pleased that he signed for the club that I cheer the most.”
