Enzo Fernandez shoots to the top of long ball stat

Enzo Fernandez has now played 6 Premier League games for Chelsea, and in that time he has rocketed to the top of the “long balls per game” stat.

The Argentine hits 7.7 per game according to stats site Whoscored. That’s miles clear of second placed Thiago Silva who has 4.8, and third placed goalkeeper Edouard Mendy on 4.7.

It shows what role Enzo has been given, and what he’s so good at.

For so long this team struggled for precise long passing to move the team quickly up the pitch. Now they have a midfielder who can hit those balls effectively, and he’s not afraid to try.

It’s already led to 2 superb assists in 6 games. If he keeps those numbers up, he will be worth every penny of the £100m or so we paid for him.

Fernandez also has the most through balls on the team with 0.3 a game. All of this from a fairly deep midfield role is incredible impressive.
