Enzo Fernandez faces tight turnaround despite early exit for Argentina

Enzo Fernandez was the final Chelsea player in action in this international break when he took on Curacao last night.

The midfielder scored a beautiful right footed strike from outside the box as Argentina stormed to a 70- win, and was able to be taken off after 50 minutes. He played for an hour in the game against Panama last week.

It doesn’t add up to the most strenuous week of action ever for Enzo, but the travel to South America and back will take it’s toll. He won’t be training until tomorrow at the very earliest, and possibly not until Friday.

That gives Graham Potter a big call over whether to pick him. Fernandez is a key player and essentially undroppable if he’s fit, but he’s unlikely to be at 100% after such a tight turnaround. Other players are going to have to step up and do their part creatively if the former Benfica man isn’t at his best.
