€60m clause makes European keeper a tempting option

Chelsea’s chase for a new number one goalkeeper has come to the fore in recent days, especially after Kepa Arrizabalaga’s mistake against Everton cost us two points.

Despite the Spaniard’s relative good form this season it’s pretty clear to most fans that he’s not an ideal long term option, hence the endless links to other top stoppers who could arrive this summer to replace him – especially if we can find a buyer for Kepa.

Diogo Costa is one of the names we’ve heard mentioned very vaguely before, but as time passes we’re more convinced by the links.

The Porto stopper has established himself for the Dragons and for Portugal since coming through the youth academy, and is looking more and more like a really top young keeper. Still just 23, he looks brilliant and still has plenty of room to develop.

He also happens to have a €60m release clause in his contract.
