Chelsea’s player of the year by the numbers

Who would be Chelsea’s player of the year if the voting was done now? It’s been a horrible season, but some Blues can hold their heads high.

We can think of a few candidates who fans would suggest, but going purely by the numbers (in this case, WhoScored’s rating system which marks each player out of 10 in every game) it would be Enzo Fernandez.

Of course he only arrived in January, but since then he’s made 7 appearances already, and assuming he plays all out remaining games, will have made 18 starts by the time we reach the end of the campaign. That’s more than enough to earn the prize.

After him come Reece James and Thiago Silva, who have both missed chunks of the season due to injury anyway. Mason Mount, who has won the last two awards, is surely out of the reckoning.

There’s still plenty of games left for anyone to make this their prize, however.

Who would you be voting for?

  1. Enzo has been amazing but it has to be Thiago, for me he has been the player who’s made me proudest
