Chelsea’s £75m spend shows part of their strategy

Chelsea have had two windows of spending big in a row, but the club haven’t just gone for superstars.

The Blues have certainly spent on big names, but a lot of work has gone in to refreshing the youth teams too.

Football.London points out that the club have spent £75m on teenage players in the last year, a sum which doesn’t even take into account the free transfer move for Omari Hutchinson from Reading.

Players like Andrey Snatos and Carney Chukwuemeka are ready for first team action right away, while others like Gabriel Slonina or Cesare Casadei are rough diamonds who need a bit of time to reach their potential.

Not all of them will make it to the top of course, which is why Chelsea are scouring the globe to bring in a nice mix of talent, hoping that at least some of it can make it to the top.
