Chelsea with big decision to make over brilliant young talent they hope to tie to new contract

In the last couple of years, Chelsea have been shedding players on free transfers, and forced to sell plenty of others in fear of losing them in a similar way.

That is clearly a disaster, and it has led to a new strategy in place from the new owners. They’ve been signing players to exceptionally long deals in an attempt to stop this problem once and for all.

They would like to do similar with Levi Colwill, the young defender having a great season on loan at Brighton this season. The Evening Standard today claim that there is great urgency around extending his deal, which expires in 2025.

An important part of that process will be convincing the youngster that he’s valued at the club and has a chance to break into the first team. To that end, it’s currently being debated whether they should send him out on loan again next year, or integrate him into the first team squad.

  1. If you know he will not be interested into the main Snr team, we need not to waste his precious time.
