Chelsea are the ones to be embarrassed by potential Aubameyang contract termination

Four Four Two have just Tweeted a story from yesterday, which cites claims that Chelsea may be ready to terminate Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s contract at the end of this season, just a year after he joined the club.

It makes sense to a degree – he’s barely playing, has been left out of the Champions League squad for this latter part of the season, clearly isn’t fancied by Graham Potter, and is too old to have much of a future.

The Tweet is accompanied by an embarrassed emoji, and a caption that points out that this would be Aubameyang’s second termination in 18 months, after Arsenal cut him loose last January.

So their implication is that Auba should be embarrassed by that, but really it’s Chelsea’s owners who should be embarrassed. They found a player who had had their contract terminated 6 months before, merrily paid Barcelona millions of pounds for him, and now are going to pay him off to leave.

Now that is embarrassing.
