The 18 year old Brighton striker has impressed for his club, and this international break has seen him make an impressive Ireland debut too.
Now teams all over are sitting up and taking notice of the gigantic teenager, who has the frame and the eye for goal of Erling Haaland. Ben Jacobs’ CaughtOffside column notes that Chelsea are on the long list of top teams watching him, and that these clubs “know they have to track this type of player early and start building relationships.”
That will be an important factor here – Ferguson will have his pick of destinations when he goes, and it’s down to Chelsea to convince him that coming to Stamford Bridge is the best option for his career.
There are still 3 years left to run on his Brighton contract, so this could end up being a long slog, and we need to be ready for that.
