Cesare Casadei names the Chelsea player who has impressed him in training

Cesare Casadei had a pretty quiet first 6 months at Chelsea after signing in the summer, settling in to a new country and playing in the development squad team.

Now he’s on loan at Reading and is gradually blossoming into a regular starter, and in quotes picked up by Football.London he spoke about a player who had impressed him in particular in his time training with Graham Potter’s first team. He also named a player from world football who he tries to model his game on:

“I feel good at Reading as Paul Ince is helping me a lot. Inter? I’m now focused on following English football since I moved to Chelsea — I want to improve.

[Ruben] Loftus-Cheek has impressed me in the training sessions. One of my models as midfielder is [Federico] Valverde”.

It’s an interesting choice, given the incredibly star quality all around Casadei. We can assume it’s in part down to the physical similarities between the two – the Italy star is probably just wishing he could glide around the pitch like RLC does.

Equally, if he ends up half as good as Valverde, we’ll have a hell of a player on our hands.
