“By a mile” – Joe Cole praises ‘outstanding’ Chelsea transfer target

Former Chelsea winger has been praising a current club target for the summer, after the latest round of international matches.

Without club football things can sometimes get a little mundane, and international breaks are not always the most popular amongst football fans. But it does at least give us all a chance to continue watching our players, and there is also quite a few Chelsea players still involved in these latest set of international matches.

Sources: Mateo Kovacic’s future!

Reece James came on for England last night as they beat Italy 2-1. But it was Harry Kane, and a Chelsea summer target, Declan Rice, who stole the headlines for England.

Rice scored a very good goal for England last night, something he is not overly known for doing too much of. But his finish and performance has gained plaudits from Cole, who was working on the game last night.

In quotes picked up by The Metro this morning, Cole said: “Declan Rice was the best player on the pitch by a mile. It was terrible defending for the goal, but he’s alive to it.

“If it’s a centre-forward we’re talking about instinct. He was outstanding from start to finish.

“But I’ve got to say I’m baffled by Italy’s defending. This is a country known for their defending but it was unacceptable from Italy in that first half.

“Most of the defenders just switch off. But Rice deserves credit because it takes it like a centre-forward, he did really well there.”
