Bayern Munich not interested in Mateo Kovacic for these reasons

Well connected insider Florian Plettenberg always knows what’s going in German football, particularly with Bayern Munich, and so when he says something on those subjects we tend to listen.

He’s going to be deeply involved with Chelsea news in the months to come, simply because our former manager Thomas Tuchel has taken over at Bayern, and is going to be linked to all our players all summer.

In the first wave was Mason Mount, who looks to be for sale this summer, and Mateo Kovacic, also potentially on the chopping block as the board look to cover their vast spending in the past 12 months.

According to Plettenberg, however, Bayern are not interested in Kova as it stands. They’ve got too many players in his position, and he’s considered “too expensive.”

That’s a problem we will run into a lot in the months to come, if even top teams like Bayern can’t afford to take on our cast offs.
