Barcelona planning bizarre return for Chelsea flop, 18 months later

Barcelona may be succeeding on the pitch at the moment, but their financial troubles remain very real.

The Catalan club are still hunting for freebies, with Mundo Deportivo reporting that they have their eyes on a player at Chelsea. Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s return to the Premier League has not gone to plan, and the article says Barca want to snap him up, with Chelsea planning to cancel his contract this summer.

It would make for quite the bizarre year for Auba.

After Arsenal ripped up his contract last January just to get him out of the club he was able to join Barca on a free. He spent 6 months there scoring some goals against weaker sides and looking decent – then Chelsea came in late in the summer and paid to buy him.

Now, a year on, he may walk away to Barcelona on a free for the second time in 18 months.
